Year 12
Students study one component that allows them to investigate a range of methods, exploring a variety of media to produce a coursework portfolio that reflects their own interests.
They also investigate a range of artists that have influenced and inspired their work. This year gives them a great opportunity to experiment thoroughly with media and ideas.
Year 13
Students will develop their interests further as part of a specialist project that reflects their own interests, supported by a personal, written and illustrated study of about 3,000 words.
They will also complete an externally set assignment.

Assessment blends sustained coursework development with an externally set assignment, rewarding experimentation, research, reflection and final outcomes.
Opportunities
On completing this course, students may choose to follow an Arts Foundation course before entering university or they may go straight into an arts-based degree.
The subject provides a great basis for those aiming to join the world of advertising, graphic design, illustration, typography, painting, sculpture, textiles, fashion design or photography.
Entrance Requirements
Essential Portfolio of drawings if no GCSE Art qualification.
Desirable Grade 5 in Art.

Component 1: 96 marks (60%). No time limit.
Component 2: 96 marks (40%). Preparatory period plus 15 hours supervised time.
