Spanish
Choosing an A Level language is a really smart move if you want a fascinating subject that offers a wide range of career possibilities and is a lot of fun along the way. Spanish allows you to develop high-level communication skills, deepen your cultural awareness and open doors to international opportunities.

Year 12
In Year 12, you study a range of topics related to the society, culture and current issues of Spanish-speaking countries. This includes themes such as social trends, cultural life, and aspects of politics and history in the Spanish-speaking world.
You also build your skills in the four key language areas: reading, listening, speaking and writing. As your confidence grows, you begin to work more independently in the target language and develop a stronger command of grammar and vocabulary.
Year 13
In Year 13, you continue to explore issues in Spanish-speaking societies in greater depth and study a book and a film in Spanish, analysing themes, characters and context.
You will also complete an individual research project into an area of Spanish or wider Hispanic society that interests you most. All four skills – reading, listening, speaking and writing – are assessed in June of Year 13 through dedicated examinations.
